ADVANTAGES OF THERMAL INSULATION

ADVANTAGES OF THERMAL INSULATION

In the last few years, it’s becoming further more commonly held the option of the thermal insulation, as much of the construction companies as of the owners with properties. The thermal insulation contributes significantly to fuel economy, while also protecting the building shell as well as the environment.

In detail, the benefits of thermal insulation are:

         Reducing Heating Costs                                             imageedit_2_7089144997.png

The heating of a space is achieved by covering the heat losses to the environment. By installing thermal insulation at the exterior of a building, it reduces the heat or/and cooling loss, resulting in reduced use of heating systems and consequently reduced fuel consumption. It has been estimated that thermal insulation of an ordinary building can save up to 45% of the energy required for its operation. In some extreme cases, the savings can reach up to 60%.

        Creating Thermal Comfort Conditions

The feeling of increased heat depends on the temperature of the air in the room, but also on the temperature of the surfaces that surround it. In non-insulated areas it is a common phenomenon to feel cold, despite the fact that the room’s temperature is high. The reason of this phenomenon is the contact that exists in the interior between the warm space and the cold surfaces of the walls. With thermal insulation, the walls maintain a temperature of small deviation, between the indoor and outdoor temperature.

      Saving of Heat and utilization

Thermal insulation enables the walls to store heat that is generated when heating a space. In this way, it makes it possible to ensure thermal comfort in the space even when the space is not heated by any medium.

       Avoiding moisture indoors

In buildings without thermal protection, moisture often appears on the inner surfaces of the walls, due to the deviation between internal and external temperatures. Consequence of moisture is the creation of stains on the walls, due to the growth of mold and the adhesion of dust to wet surfaces.

Protection of the Structural Elements of the Building

Thermal insulation protects the external structural elements from thermal stresses, significantly reducing the possibility of cracks and crevices in the external coatings.

Usage of More Economical Heating Means

Having a space thermally insulated, heat losses are reduced. This leads the user to choose radiators, which will have lower energy efficiency and consequently more economical

Soundproof with the use of thermal insulation materials

For the case of sound insulation problems, there is the possibility of installing thermal insulation materials with fibers with sound-absorbing properties (mineral wool, fiberglass, etc.), where they provide thermal and sound protection from external noises.

       Environmental Protection

Thermal insulation achieves a significant reduction in the consumption of available energy resources. At the same time, thermal insulation contributes to the protection of the environment by reducing the exhaust gases that would be required to heat buildings. It is estimated that the CO2 emissions for heating a building with thermal insulation are up to 45% lower than that of an uninsulated one.
